What Does a School Board Do?

  1. Works together with other board members and the administration to create a shared vision
     
  2. Establishes district goals and priorities
     
  3. Oversees the general operation of the school district
     
  4. Sets direction for: 
    • Academic programs
    • Public relations
    • Facilities
    • Contracts
       
  5. Adopts the annual budget for presentation to the community.
     
  6. Hires and evaluates the Superintendent of Schools
     
  7. Ratifies the collective bargaining agreements
     
  8. Shows respect for other board members, members of the Administration and community.
